Textured heart mini book

Hello everyone. I’m about to share another very textured technique. Now for this it’s all to do with “Lutradur”. This is a non woven polyester material that resembles interfacing. It comes in different weights but I’ve used 70gm. If you use a heat tool on it, it will disintegrate and shrink. It gives a very interesting effect. I also use a texture paste over the top of it too so when heated it doesn’t completely burn away.

I’ve stained mine with ink but you can also paint or dye it. I’ve also glossed it with a finishing gloss to it give it a different look.
It is very easy to use and you can stitch over it. Just be aware that if you stitch first it will shrink and buckle your stitching slightly. My heart mini book did get a little distorted but I quite like the effect 🙂
Inside my book I have chosen E.E Cummings writings “I carry your heart” (I carry it in my heart) truly beautiful writing that I adore 🙂
